OIL PAINTING with MILES CARPENTER

AIM OF COURSE - An introduction to oils and the principles of painting, that will enable you to paint anything.

MATERIALS/EQUIPMENT - Students will need to bring:

Paints - Titanium White (large), Cadmium Red, Cadmium Yellow Pale, Cobalt Blue, Phalo Blue or Prussian Blue and Black (minimum colours required), around $6.25 a tube, and any others you like the colour of.

Brushes - Square synthetic and bristle in a mixture of sizes (3, 6, 10), and small pointed for detail, and any others you wish to try. (Cheap brushes and paint are harder to use and don't last as long better off with fewer good ones)

Thinners - Bottle of citrus thinners or odourless terps and gum terps, 3 jars, and a clean rag.

Canvas - Cheap stretched canvas or 3mm MDF (easily cut with a Stanley trimmer), primed both sides with a low sheen acrylic house paint (no bigger than 60cm x 60cm), is very cost effective for learning. You will learn how to stretch your own canvas in the course.

Classes will only run with minimum numbers
